Welcome to take a walk with us on Saturday morning in Daytona Beach

Each morning, after we get up Mat stops by with Buddy and invites us to take a walk with them.   I thought you might like to tag along on this Saturday and see the sights.  Sorry I couldn’t send the weather along.

As we walked along the Halifax River I realized there were other  early risers already out and active.   The first picture shows them in sweep meaning each person has two hands on one oar.  Sculling is when each person is rowing with two oars one in each hand.

Sweep each rower has two hands on one oar. The “coxswain” is the person who sits in the boat and directs the rhythm of the rowing crew as well as steers the boat.

Again they are using “Sweep”.

This the International Speedway bridge that is the road that goes past the Daytona Beach Speedway.  It is a beautiful bridge with the supports all having Aquatic themes mosaic’s on them.  They also have the shell shape in intervals along the rail.  It makes for a pleasant walk in the park as it is on the northern edge of the park with beautiful palm trees throughout.  More of the park in a different blog.

Tammy and Mat were with me that day enjoying the walk.

They are standing next to the Volusia County Library.  It’s nice having a library only 3 blocks from us.  We need to get our library cards but we have so much to do on the boat and lots of reading materiel in our e readers.

There are also several walking bridges across the river that people can walk or bike across.

The seagulls are lined up along the railing watching us.

Then we arrive at the Farmers Market.  It’s the end of January and we are getting fresh picked fruit and vegetables.  that is so great we are there every week getting it fresh picked.  Most of it is grown right near Daytona Beach with the vendors hawking fresh grown locally to everyone.  It includes not only vegetables and fruit but booths with Homemade Honey, Peanuts, Shrimp, and all sorts of natural organic foods as well.

Thanks for joining us on our walk today.  What a beautiful place Daytona Beach.

  1. Yeah, it’s snowing here.

  2. We love a Farmers Market, almost as much as I LOVED those painted pilings!
